iHeartMedia’s Vicki Ward Elected to the Board of The Connecticut Convention & Sports Bureau

Vicki Ward, Senior Vice President of Sales for iHeartMedia Markets Group’s Hartford Region, has been elected to the Board of the Connecticut Convention & Sports Bureau (CTCSB).

“Vicki Ward brings extensive experience in the media industry and sales outreach, and will be a great asset to our organization as we sell Connecticut to meeting planners and sports promoters across the U.S.,” says Robert Murdock, President of the Connecticut Convention & Sports Bureau, the State’s official meetings and sports event sales and marketing organization. “We look forward to her insight and perspective as we move forward.” The Chair of the CTCSB’s Board is Thomas Madden, Director of Economic Development for the City of Stamford, Conn.

At iHeartMedia, Ward is responsible for the day-to-day sales operation for the company’s 10 radio stations in Hartford and New Haven, Conn., as well as the 39 stations for the New York markets of Albany, Rochester, Syracuse, Poughkeepsie, Binghamton, and Sussex, NJ as well as iHeartRadio. She was named to this position more than three years ago, promoted from Director of Sales for iHeartMedia’s Hartford radio stations that include WWYZ-FM, Country 92-5; WHCN-FM, The River 105-9; WKSS-FM, KISS 95.7; WUCS-FM, 97-9 ESPN, and WPOP-AM News Talk 1410AM / 100.9FM as well as the Total Traffic Network. She held that position since 2007 when iHeartMedia was previously named Clear Channel Radio.

Prior to the name change, Ward was Clear Channel’s General Sales Manager for Country 92-5, WWYZ-FM for seven years and, before that, she held the position of Senior Account Executive for nine years. Ward started her radio career as an Account Executive at WTIC-AM & FM radio, and worked in television at WPLG-TV in Miami, WFSB-TV 3 in Hartford, and Columbia, Epic & Portrait Records in Hartford.

Working in partnership with the state’s businesses, institutions, nonprofit organizations, and their surrounding communities, the Connecticut Convention & Sports Bureau (CTCSB) markets all of the state – convention and meeting venues, hotels and attractions, and sporting venues – as a premier destination for international, national, regional and statewide conferences, conventions and major sports events. The Connecticut Sports Advisory Board, a division of the CTCSB, focuses its efforts on attracting and serving international, national and regional sporting events. Events booked by the CTCSB in the last fiscal year alone are projected to result in: $62,989,859 in spending by convention, meeting and sports events attendees during their visits to the state, generating $4,272,596 in Connecticut taxes. In addition, more than 17,331 Connecticut jobs in the hospitality industry will be supported by these events as a result of these bookings, according to Destinations International economic calculator FY 2018-19.
