The Colorado Springs Sports Corp is proud to announce that it will stage its annual College Hockey Face-Off event on Thursday, September 29 at the Colorado Springs Marriott at 12:00 pm.

The event will feature the city's two NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey coaches, Frank Serratore of Air Force and Mike Haviland of Colorado College, presenting a look ahead at the coming season and their outlook for success.

The Air Force hockey team opens the 2016-17 season with an exhibition game on Monday, Oct. 3, against Mount Royal University (Calgary, Alberta) at the Cadet Ice Arena at 6:05 p.m. Air Force will play 16 home games, including the exhibition game. In its 11th season in the Atlantic Hockey Conference, Air Force will play 28 conference games.

Serratore just completed his 19th season at Air Force with a 309-298-66 record. Serratore is the winningest coach in the history of Air Force hockey, having led Air Force to five AHC championships and five NCAA Tournaments in the last 10 years. This past season, he was named the Atlantic Hockey coach of the year as he led the Falcons to a 20-12-5 overall record. The Falcons tied for second in the Atlantic Hockey Conference with a 16-7-5 record.

Haviland's young and eager Tigers are coming off a tough season, but a promising recruiting class and top quality returning players may be a recipe for success this season in the rugged NCHC in Haviland's third year as head coach.

Haviland, a highly regarded veteran coach with experience at the NCAA, ECHL, AHL and NHL levels, brought more than 20 years of hockey coaching experience to Colorado Springs, most recently as head coach of the Hershey Bears in 2013. Prior to arriving at Hershey, he served as associate head coach of the Norfolk Admirals in 2012-13 and an assistant coach with the Chicago Blackhawks from 2008-12. During his four-year span in Chicago, he helped guide the Blackhawks to a cumulative mark of 187-101-40, a Central Division title in 2009-10 and the 2010 Stanley Cup championship.

The Tigers open the season on Sunday, October 2 with an exhibition game against Mount Royal University at The Broadmoor World Arena at 6:07 p.m. The regular season for the Tigers begins Oct.7-8 with a pair of road games at the University of Massachusetts.

Air Force and Colorado College meet on November 26 at 6:07 p.m. at the Broadmoor World Arena. The teams split 4-3 wins last year.
