Top Senior Women to Compete for National Titles
The United States Tennis Association (USTA) National Senior Women’s Hard Court Tennis Championships will be played Monday, May 11 through Sunday, May 17 at the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club, 2000 Spindrift Drive, La Jolla, Calif., 92037.
Events will include both singles and doubles in the 50 and over, 60 and over, 70 and over, 80 and over, and 90 and over age groups. The women's events are national championships and attract the best players from across the country, making the tournament field of competitors the strongest in the nation in each age division.
“It’s very special to watch senior players at this level compete in a national tournament. Senior tennis competitors have a unique style of play when it comes to setting up points to make that winning shot,” said Tournament Director Bill Kellogg. “With a strong tournament field, we’re expecting a very entertaining week of championship tennis.”
La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club welcomes tennis enthusiasts to view the tournament with free admission. On-site parking is available for a nominal fee. Matches are expected to start Monday, May 11 at 9 a.m., Tuesday, May 12 through Friday, May 15 at 8 a.m., and on Saturday, May 16 and Sunday, May 17 at 9 a.m. (All times are PST)
Tournament draws for each division are posted at this link.
The La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club’s 43rd Annual Spring Senior Championships for men will also be played the same week in conjunction with the women’s events. Although the men’s events are not national championships, they will feature many senior players who regularly compete in national tournaments.
