Marin Runs and Represent Running Partner to Bring Series to San Rafael

A new running event is coming to Marin County and the entire 415 is invited. The inaugural Marin 415 Mile and Miracle Mile Benefiting Girls on the Run Bay Area is set for Sunday, July 21, 2013 in San Rafael. Featuring a distance for the whole family, organizers have slated a 5 mile, one mile, and 415Kids Race all starting and finishing in the heart of San Rafael's popular 4th Street Business District.

The new event is an expansion of the popular San Rafael Mile that has brought some of the top Bay Area athletes to compete in Marin. In 2013, Represent Running, the producer behind the successful San Jose 408K Race to The Row, has partnered with local race production company Marin Runs to include the Marin 415 Mile as part of Represent Running's "area code" run series.

Race Director and Founder of Marin Runs, Jason Jacobson, enethused: "We're very excited to bring the 415 Mile to Marin County.  We believe this new look event will maintain all the family aspects of our past runs, but also bring a truly fun run element to downtown San Rafael that even more runners can enjoy."

Represent Running serves as the other half of the new partnership and is owned by San Francisco's Soul Focus Sports. In just two years The San Jose 408K has grown to 5,000 participants, and is known for mobilizing a proud local fan base into a community running spectacle complete with elite and equally non-elite runners, costumes, music, and other varying displays of local pride. The Founder of the Series, J.T. Service, is convinced that Marin possesses the same mix of active citizens and prideful local enthusiasts; "not only have we found the perfect local production partner in Marin Runs, but we found the perfect place to hold the event. The Marin County community is active, charitable and totally unique."

The Marin 415 Mile and Miracle Mile is also excited to announce that Girls on the Run Bay Area will serve as the Official Charity Partner of the event.

"We are ecstatic that Marin 415 Mile & Miracle Mile has invited Girls on the Run of the Bay Area to be its official charity partner for the debut event. GOTR is rapidly growing with at least 75% of the girls we serve receiving financial assistance to participate. By fundraising through The 415Mile, participants will make it possible for more girls to enroll in our valuable program, so that together we can build stronger, healthier, more confident girls."

In addition to Girls on the Run, the event will partner with Dean Karnazes' Karno Kids Foundation as the presenting charity of the 415Kids Race, and also support San Rafael High School Athletics. Karnazes was delighted with a new event coming to his home county.

"I'm always glad to see another event that encourages physical activity and outdoor participation. I've run races all over the world, on every continent and every distance, but it's always best in your own backyard. Plus, I am especially excited to have our Karno Kids Foundation involved in the kid's race, which will be my favorite of the day."
