The GCSAA Golf Championships will be contested Feb. 2-4, 2019, in San Diego as part of the 2019 Golf Industry Show.

The championships, presented in partnership with The Toro Co. and benefiting the Environmental Institute for Golf (EIFG), will offer four different events over three days and will draw members of all abilities. The competitions will take place at five high-end courses in the San Diego area, including Torrey Pines North and Aviara Golf Club, which host professional events for the PGA Tour and LPGA Tour, respectively. The PGA of America will provide Rules officials and course setup.

In addition to the GCSAA National Championship Feb. 3-4, a four-ball competition will be held Feb. 2, followed by a scramble event on Feb. 3. The two-day Golf Classic is scheduled for Feb. 3-4 and will offer both a gross and net flighted competition that will use a point-quota scoring system. Flights in the Golf Classic will rotate between courses.

More than 450 GCSAA members participated in the 2018 combined championships, which raised $50,000 for the EIFG. Matt Cowan of The Hills of Lakeway in Austin, Texas, won last year’s National Championship at the Oaks Course at TPC San Antonio. The National Championship is limited to 72 GCSAA members with a 5.0 handicap index or lower, and will be played at the Champions Course at La Costa Resort.

Other courses welcoming golfers over the three days of events are Encinitas Ranch and the Legends Course at La Costa Resort. To learn more about each of the courses and competitions, and to register, go to the GCSAA Golf Championships page of the Golf Industry Show website. Advance registration closes Dec. 20.

The Toro Co. will mark its 25th year as the presenting partner of the GCSAA Golf Championships with the 2019 event. Toro, a GCSAA Platinum Partner, is a global leader in providing maintenance equipment and irrigation systems to golf courses.

The 2019 GCSAA Golf Championships will be held in conjunction with the Golf Industry Show, which includes the GCSAA Education Conference and trade show, Feb. 4-7 at the San Diego Convention Center.
