21 Mar, 2016

Visit Bentonville, the city’s advertising and promotion commission, hired former Razorback football player Luke Charpentier as the new sports sales manager. Charpentier is a Louisiana native and has lived in northwest Arkansas since his freshman year at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.

Charpentier will be responsible for recruiting sporting events to Bentonville as well as assisting Bentonville Parks and Recreation and Bike Bentonville with their events. The mission of Visit Bentonville is to promote the city as a tourism destination. Sports tourism has a very large economic impact on Bentonville’s tourism and hospitality industry. Tournaments, meets, and races produce hundreds of hotel night stays and restaurant visits every year.

“We are thrilled to have Luke on our team. With his sports background and infectious enthusiasm, I know he will be an asset to the bureau,” states Kalene Griffith, CEO, Visit Bentonville.

Mr. Charpentier’ s sports background includes five years with the Arkansas Razorbacks and participation in the 2015 New Orleans Saints Rookie Training Camp.

From 2013-2015, Visit Bentonville hosted over 200 sporting events. Next to corporate travel, sports is the highest producing tourism market for the city.  For more information on Bentonville’s sports tourism market contact Luke Charpentier at Luke@VisitBentonville.com.
