Karen Morris, CMP, has joined Visit Phoenix’s convention sales team as Director of National Accounts. She will work alongside Maribel Velazquez and Mark Metcalfe in Washington D.C.

“This opportunity was too good to pass up and I’m thrilled to be back in the ‘CVB world,’” said Morris. “The growth and development that Phoenix is experiencing continues to impress me, and I look forward to now being a part of that story.”

Morris joins Visit Phoenix with an extensive career in the travel industry. She started as Destination Services & Sales Coordinator at Visit Savannah, and after just over a year in that role was promoted to Director of Destination Services. There, she planned and conducted site inspections and familiarization trips, managed the bureau’s welcome and convention transportation programs, and provided services to all reunions, meetings and conventions held in the city.

Morris most recently worked for the American Society of Travel Advisors (ASTA) as Director of Meetings & Events, where she planned conferences in Spain, Kenya, China, Greece, the Bahamas and throughout the U.S. including in Alaska and Hawaii. These programs relied heavily on the partnerships she built with the tourism bureau and local government.

“We are elated to add Karen to our citywide team,” said Ronnie Collins, director of sales at Visit Phoenix. “Her prior CVB exposure as well as her experience as an executive meeting planner for a D.C.-based association made her the ideal choice to lead our sales efforts.”

Karen and her husband, Gary, and six-month old son, Henry, enjoy living in Washington D.C. She enjoys cooking, reading, walking around D.C. and spin class in her free time and, of course, loves to travel.
