Scottsdale Celebrating Cactus League Spring Training

15 Jan, 2015

Scottsdale, Arizona, is once again stepping up to the plate as it nears the start of a home run Cactus League Spring Training season.

During the month of March, the World Champion San Francisco Giants will take the mound at Scottsdale Stadium, in the heart of downtown. Just down the street, the Arizona Diamondbacks and Colorado Rockies will be prepping for the season at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick on the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Reservation.

In fact, during March, 15 MLB teams will make an exodus from their home towns to greater Scottsdale. So get in on the action and the fun during a sun-soaked stay in Scottsdale.

The Scottsdale Convention & Visitors Bureau invites visitors to prep for an exciting spring training season March 7-8 during Baseball City, held at Scottsdale Civic Center Mall, just steps away from the Scottsdale Stadium. Fans of all ages can engage in batting cage and base running challenges, catch a glimpse of the science of baseball and view some of the finest memorabilia that baseball has to offer. As if that’s not enough reason to attend, current major league ballplayers and a few of those who have retired will be in attendance. Get autographs from your favorite players or participate in clinics held by the greats of the game.

Train like your favorite spring training players during The Scottsdale Giant Race, sponsored by the Scottsdale Charros. The March 8 event takes participants on 9K or 3-miles runs around Scottsdale Stadium. Put yourself in the shoes of your favorite player as you end the race on the Scottsdale Stadium field.
