Mobile Announces Calendar of Events for Winter, Early Spring

The Mobile Sports Authority has announced events to be held this winter and early spring:

MSA Intercollegiate Golf Tournament
RTJ Golf Trail at Magnolia Grove
February 10-12, 2019
Co-hosted with the University of South Alabama Men's Golf Team
This annual invitational golf tournament is the Spring season-opener for many of the participating teams. Division I teams, including nationally-ranked Louisville and Florida State, will converge on the beautiful grounds of Magnolia Grove to tee-off the season.

The USS Alabama Battleship is an impressive backdrop for the fastest-growing sport in America. Approximately 50 teams from across the Gulf Coast are slated to play. Bring your lawn chair and spend the day overlooking beautiful Mobile Bay while cheering for your favorite player!

WSL Black American Winter World Softball Tournament

March 8-10, 2019
For the first time in Mobile, this adult slow-pitch softball event will serve as the world tournament for the new Black American division of the World Sports League (WSL). The double-elimination event will feature 65 men's and women's teams from across the country competing for a spot in the WSL World Championship held in Chattanooga, TN.

Tournament fun begins the evening of March 8 at Medal of Honor Park with a Home Run Derby and two All-Star games. Teams will be chosen at random to compete.

On March 9, teams will compete in both West Mobile County and Medal of Honor Parks in Mobile. National vendors, including Easton and others, will be onsite. Games will run from 8:00 am until 10:00 pm on Saturday, March 9, and 7:00 am - 6:00 pm on Sunday, March 10.

Obstacles stand in your way to see if what you want is worth fighting for. At a Spartan, you will find obstacles designed to test your mental fortitude and physical strength.

Alabama Weekend is the only Spartan in the state and is one of five US Championship Race events. This series will feature Super (mid-distance), Sprint (lower distance), and kid's races. Competitors will make their way through sandy fields, swampy bogs, and forestland. Be prepared to get VERY dirty on your way to becoming a Spartan Champion!

The weekend begins with a pre-race party for participants on Friday evening, March 15 under the tent at the Saraland Chamber of Commerce. Races start at 7:30 AM on both Saturday and Sunday at 1199 Radcliff Road in Saraland. Register today to reserve your spot!
