During a year when sports tourism has turned upside down, Alabama's beach communities are set to host a naturally social distanced event Saturday, Sept. 19 – the 2020 Kayak Bass Fishing (KFB) Redfish Gulf Division Championship Tournament. Based at The Wharf, this new event to the destination will showcase coastal waterways throughout Gulf Shores and Orange Beach as competitors launch from various sites.

"This year has certainly has its challenges, but we are optimistic about new business – especially events utilizing our natural venues, like the waterways," said Beth Gendler, vice president of sales for the Gulf Shores & Orange Beach Sports Commission. "Our area is known as a recreational fishing mecca, and the scenic waterways feeding into the Gulf are perfect for kayak fishing."

Part of the Realtree Fishing KBF Redfish Series presented by DeeZee, only official KBF ambassadors, competitors or lifetime members qualify for this elite tournament. Participants will take part in a virtual catch-and-release rather than a traditional weigh-in.
