Hoover Mayor Frank Brocato said “The Finley Center is a wonderful place for all kinds of events. Pickleball is no exception. We are happy to have USA Pickleball Association’s inaugural National Indoor Championships in Hoover. While they are here, I know the participants will receive great hospitality from our city staff and residents. We look forward to a great event!”

Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in the U.S. It is a paddle sport created for all ages and skill levels that combines many elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong. The sport is played both indoors and outdoors on a badminton-sized court with a slightly modified tennis net. Pickleball can be played as doubles or singles, and with simple rules it is easy for beginners to learn. The Hoover Met Complex offers indoor pickleball during our Open Gym hours at the Finley Center.

USA Pickleball is the national governing body for the sport of pickleball in the United States. They provide players with official rules, tournaments, rankings, and promotional materials. USAPA’s mission is to promote the development and growth of pickleball in the United States and its territories.
