U.S. Bobsled & Skeleton Federation (USBSF) CEO Darrin Steele was elected as the Federation Internationale de Bobsleigh et de Tobgoganning (FIBT) vice president of sport during the 84th FIBT conference in Monaco today. Steele will continue to lead the USBSF while also serving his four-year term with the FIBT.

“I’m honored that the FIBT member nations have put their trust in me to assume the role of vice president of sport,” Steele said. “I have a strong team supporting me in the sport and material committees of bobsled and skeleton as well as the volunteers who make up the jury members for all FIBT races. The first task is to finalize the schedule for this coming season, but I expect to work closely with the new executive committee to establish strategic objectives as we look toward the 2018 Games in Korea.”

Per the FIBT statutes, the vice president of sport shall be responsible for all matters that concern organization, operation and validation of FIBT competitions for bobsled and skeleton including rules, races, tracks, juries and the safety of the athletes.
