USA Table Tennis CEO Gordon Kaye announced Mark Thompson as the new Chief Operating Officer of USATT. Thompson, who hails from Reading, Pennsylvania, will manage the day-to-day business operations for the organization. He will be based in Colorado Springs and is expected to begin his duties in mid-October.

“We’re excited to add Mark to the USATT team,” said Gordon Kaye, the Chief Executive Officer for USATT. “I have known Mark for a number of years, and I’m confident that he has the experience and drive to help us continue our efforts to provide the best of service for our members and achieve excellence in all phases of our organization.”

For the past twelve years, Thompson served as the media relations director, hockey operations coordinator, and broadcaster for the Reading Royals of the ECHL, the AA affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League. A veteran of some 20 years in the professional hockey business, Thompson is a graduate of the University of Memphis School of Law and worked in the legal profession for a number of years prior to entering the sports industry.

“After experiencing the USATT community first-hand at the Supermicro Nationals this year, I could feel the passion and enthusiasm of our membership,” commented Thompson. “Table tennis is such a great game that can be enjoyed by all, and I am excited to be working together to continue the growth and development of the organization.”
