Suunto, a global leader in sports watches, dive computers and precision instruments, announces its new sponsorship of the Discrete Cirque Series, the premiere short-distance, max-elevation trail running series in North America.

The Discrete Cirque Series features races for the serious mountain athlete and enthusiast looking for an event between the 10K and ultra distances. There are five events scheduled at U.S. ski resorts for 2017:

  • June 24 Deer Valley, Utah

  • July 15 Alta, Utah

  • July 29 Arapahoe Basin, Colo.

  • August 12 Alyeska, Alaska

  • August 26 Snowbird, Utah

“An event like the Discrete Cirque Series, in which athletes are out in the mountains, pushing themselves and their limits, while enjoying the natural landscape, that’s what we’re all about,” says Bryson White, brand marketing manager for Suunto in the Americas. “This partnership gives Suunto a great opportunity to connect with mountain athletes in their native environments, and we want to help these events grow in any way we can.”

During and immediately following each race, Discrete will host music, food, drinks, a vendor expo, and entertainment at the race village for brands and athletes to connect in a fun, festive atmosphere. Pro Division winners will earn a cash payout of $500, for the individual events and the season-long overall standings.

Suunto’s Discrete Cirque Series course maps will make routes easier to read and follow, and provide more information to racers with layers of data that show altitude profiles, 3D terrain flyovers, and in some cases, historical user-data analysis of what it takes to succeed on a given course.

With the introduction of the new Spartan Sport Wrist HR watch, which features highly accurate wrist-based heart rate measurement, elevation profile navigation, and training plan integration, Suunto is perfectly positioned to provide Discrete Cirque Series athletes the technology they need to perform at the highest level.

“Suunto is a perfect partner for the Discrete Cirque Series. The brand has participated in the series organically before 2017, and they bring significant value to our participants this season,” says Julian Carr, founder of the Discrete Cirque Series and Discete Clothing.
