The 2017-18 NBA season tipped off Sept. 30 with two preseason games. The regular season won’t begin until Oct. 17, but it runs until June. Which means we’ve got plenty of time to ponder the possibilities of a fourth straight NBA Finals featuring the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors. Here are some other numbers to consider:

8:  The number of days earlier this year’s season begins than last year’s season, in an effort to reduce back-to-back games

44.9: Economic impact, in millions of dollars, for the state of Louisiana for hosting the 2017 NBA All-Star Game at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans
