Expanding events outside the United States is something many owners of successful sports events have considered. In 2012, The Color Run, an untimed paint run, made good on its tagline, “the happiest 5K on the planet,” by hosting its first event in Melbourne, Australia. By 2013, the event was being offered in 20 additional countries. These days, it is hosted in approximately 30 countries per year.
