Laguna Blue, the creator of eco-friendly, bacteria-resistant microfiber towels, is pleased to announce that former Olympian Summer Sanders will be their new company spokesperson. Sanders is a former competitive swimmer who won four medals, including gold, at the 1992 Olympic Games.

Since her years as a competitor, Sanders has worked extensively as an on-air commentator and correspondent. She acted as an Olympic analyst and host for NBC during the 1996, 2000, 2002, and 2010 Olympic Games and has also covered the WNBA, the NBA, and the U.S. Open. Most recently, Sanders has worked as a correspondent on Good Morning America, The Rachael Ray Show, NBC’s Universal Sports Network and Yahoo! Sports. She is the mother of two young children and is a health and fitness advocate. Her quest to create a safe, active, and healthy environment for her children is what brought Sanders and Laguna Blue together. As Laguna Blue’s spokesperson, Summer Sanders brings her unique voice and unrivaled spirit to the Laguna Blue brand.

“I love these towels,” says Sanders. "My life has literally revolved around water! And with any water adventure, a towel is a must. I am thrilled to be partnering with a towel that not only keeps me and my family dry and warm, but keeps us safe from germs, as well. Trust me, your locker room and gym just got cleaner by adding Laguna Blue towels to your routine!"

Launched in June 2016, Laguna Blue towels are soft, eco-friendly, and anti-bacterial. Based on a laboratory challenge with MRSA, Laguna Blue towels have proven to be 99.8% effective in preventing the spread of germs and diseases, including the life-threatening MRSA. By using a unique construction of microfibers, Laguna Blue traps bacteria with no chemical additives, making it very difficult for harmful bacteria to multiply and spread. In addition, the microfiber fabric is non-linting, so bacteria cannot spread from contaminated linens to clean linens via lint. Laguna Blue also offers incredible energy savings. Laguna Blue towels need less water and less heat to get clean--saving the environment while saving you money. The towels also have a unique knit that absorbs liquid faster, yet dries twice as quickly as cotton towels. Indeed, they are the “smarter towel.”

“We are thrilled to have Summer Sanders onboard as our official spokesperson. She is the face of an Olympic Athlete, TV personality and Mom, living the Laguna Blue life authentically,” said Debbie Widerøe, president of Laguna Blue.

About Laguna Blue:

  • In 2004, a contaminated gym towel left company COO, Kenny Perry, fighting for his life. The towel was infected with MRSA, and in a matter of days, doctors were considering amputating his leg. Fortunately, Kenny survived and made a full recovery, and together with CEO, Bert Rubinsky, they were inspired to develop a line of towels that help prevent the spread of harmful bacteria, including MRSA.
