Boathouse Sports has unveiled its custom Made-In-America unisuit, that will be worn by USRowing’s national team athletes during the 2016 season, including the upcoming Olympic Games. This is the first in a series of new special apparel Boathouse Sports will release this summer.

Founded in 1989 by two-time Olympic rower John Strotbeck,  Boathouse has been working hand-in-hand with the U.S. National Rowing Team since 2009 to design, develop and test rowing specific products in preparation for the 2016 racing season.

Boathouse’s Pinnacle II Unisuit is the result of countless hours of in-boat testing and numerous prototypes that incorporate feedback from the athletes. The Pinnacle II Unisuit features a brand new fabric technology that uses high-wicking micro-denier yarn for greater softness and comfort in wear without sacrificing support or durability. Boathouse is known for its performance, comfort and unparalleled style. The new Pinnacle II Unisuit is no different. It features improved neckline, waist and leg openings for better performance. Based on the feedback from the athletes, Boathouse removed the center back seam to eliminate friction during prolonged activity and for a smoother and overall cleaner appearance. Boathouse also used a new thread inseam design that reduces bulk and chafing and eliminates thread pops.

“Boathouse’s attention to detail, craftsmanship and overall love for our sport is exactly what we look for in a supplier,” said USRowing CEO Glenn Merry. “They understand the needs of the athlete and constantly innovate to allow our athletes to perform at a world-class level.”

“Every time I see one of the rowers in our apparel, it is extremely gratifying to know that we manufactured it right here in Philadelphia,” said Boathouse Sports Founder and CEO John Strotbeck. “As a former member of the U.S. National and Olympic Teams, I know how much it means to these athletes to finally put on the uniform and represent their country at the highest level of competition. We take great pride in providing the U.S. rowers with the apparel they need to train, compete and ultimately stand atop the podium this August in Rio.”
