USA Triathlon, the National Governing Body for triathlon, today announced date and location for its 2017 Race Director Symposium, presented by ACTIVE Network®, which will be held Jan. 20-22 in Dallas, Texas, in collaboration with the Annual Business Conference from Triathlon Business International (TBI), the industry organization dedicated to promoting the sport and the business of triathlon.

The conferences will be held at the Fairmont Dallas Hotel in Dallas, Texas, from Jan. 20-24, 2017. USA Triathlon's Race Director Symposium will run from Jan. 20-22, and TBI's conference is set for Jan. 22-24, with a dual session planned for Sunday, Jan. 22. The joint endeavor eliminates the need for participants to go to two locations on different weekends, with an exponential cost of two separate trips.

The annual USA Triathlon Race Director Symposium is an opportunity for race directors to gain extensive knowledge from top professionals in event planning and execution, as well as gain important continuing education units to enhance their professional status and network with other event organizers.

"The entire USA Triathlon staff looks forward to this inaugural collaboration and to welcoming our race director family to Dallas in January," said Kathy Matejka, USA Triathlon Event Services Director. "The business and industry of triathlon are evolving rapidly, and the competitive economic climate requires this type of collaboration. We feel it is important to our members and industry constituents that we provide the best opportunities for knowledge and growth. The conference partnership with TBI provides both."

TBI's conference addresses the business aspects of the swim-bike-run industry focusing on topics such as trends and predictions in retailing, equipment, technology applications, international expansion, new concepts, risks, legal issues, customer service, event management, and more.

"We are looking forward to this endeavor and believe it will clearly expand the breadth and depth of information sharing," said TBI president Richard Adler. "On behalf of TBI, I hope this is just the first of our collaborative efforts with USA Triathlon to improve and grow the sport of triathlon."

The joint programming presented by USA Triathlon and TBI on Sunday, Jan. 22 will lead off with an "A List" keynote lunch speaker, with both conferences presenting optimum opportunities for networking with peers, meeting new colleagues and learning about the latest happenings in the sport. ACTIVE Network® will be hosting a Reception Sunday night at their new headquarters for attendees of both conferences.

"The combination of these two conferences will benefit both organizations as well as the sport itself," said Sam Renouf, General Manager, Sports, ACTIVE Network. "Strategic partnerships like this have significant potential for everyone involved.  Having partnered with USA Triathlon and Triathlon Business International for over five years now, we are pleased to support both organizations in an even greater capacity next year and to welcome them to our home office in Dallas."

Registration will open next month through ACTIVE, and be announced by each organization through multiple communications channels. Visit usatriathlon.org for more information on USA Triathlon Race Director Symposium, and visit triathlonbusinessintl.com for more on TBI.
