NCAA announced Fort Worth will host the 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 Women’s Gymnastics National Championship and 2022 DI Men’s Basketball Rounds 1&2 on the same day Fort Worth announced the new Dickies Arena.
“It is an honor to welcome back the NCAA Women’s Gymnastics National Championships and for the first time since 1970, NCAA Men’s Basketball,” said Bob Jameson, president and CEO of the Fort Worth Convention & Visitors Bureau (FWCVB). “This is a huge win for Fort Worth and we’re so proud of our strong partnerships with TCU, TWU, the Fort Worth Convention Center, Knight Eady and the new Dickies Arena.”
“Together with the Fort Worth Convention and Visitors Bureau, Texas Christian University, Texas Woman’s University and our partners at Knight Eady, we are excited to announce that Dickies Arena was selected to host multiple major NCAA events,” said Matt Homan, Multipurpose Arena Fort Worth’s president and general manager.
“This is another testament to the fantastic partnership that TCU has with the City of Fort Worth,” said Chris Del Conte, TCU Director of Intercollegiate Athletics. “Now with the new Dickies Arena coming to fruition, Fort Worth is an incredibly attractive host site for many NCAA Championships, which will certainly benefit TCU student-athletes, coaches and fans.”

The estimated direct economic impact of each NCAA Women’s Gymnastics tournament is $1,263,120 and $7,479,000 for NCAA Men’s Basketball and millions more in media exposure.
The FWCVB created the Fort Worth Sports Marketing department to support this growth area of the city. Since the launch, Fort Worth Sports Marketing has been recognized nationally for hosting the 2015 and 2016 NCAA Women’s Gymnastics Championships.
