Erie Seeing Bump in Volleyball Events

The Erie Sports Commission is pleased to announce that EPIC Volleyball Club will host nine Ohio Valley Region (OVR) junior volleyball tournaments in the Erie region beginning on Sunday, Jan. 28 at ErieBank Sports Park. Each of the tournaments will feature as many as 16 teams, each of a different division, from New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. The tournament schedule is as follows:

  • Sunday, Jan. 28: ErieBank Sports Park (Boys 18U – 16 teams)

  • Sunday, Feb. 11: ErieBank Sports Park (Girls 15, Regional – 16 teams)

  • Sunday, Feb. 18: ErieBank Sports Park (Girls 17, Regional – 16 teams)

  • Sunday, Feb. 25: ErieBank Sports Park (Girls 16, Regional – 16 teams)

  • Saturday, March 3: ErieBank Sports Park (Girls 12, Regional – 16 teams)

  • Sunday, March 4: ErieBank Sports Park (Girls 17, Regional – 16 teams)

  • Saturday, March 10: ErieBank Sports Park (Girls 13, Regional – 16 teams)

  • Saturday, March 11: ErieBank Sports Park (Girls 15, Regional – 16 teams)

  • Saturday, March 24: Fort LeBoeuf High School (Girls 12, Regional – 8 teams)

Doors for each tournament open at 7:45 a.m. with tournament pool play beginning at 8:30 a.m. The tournaments on Jan. 28, Feb. 25, March 3 and March 10 are still open for team registration.

“These OVR Tournaments showcase the best of our region’s junior volleyball players, and we’re excited to partner with the Erie Sports Commission again in 2018 to highlight the prominent role Erie plays in that,” said LeAnn Johnson, Tournament Director. “We’re looking forward to a great season of volleyball.”

“These tournaments bring hundreds of young athletes to our region during the winter months,” said Ron Sertz, Executive Director of the Erie Sports Commission. “We’re thrilled to partner with LeAnn and hope that we can expand Erie’s presence in the OVR Volleyball schedule.”
