ISSA Advancing the Sport of Senior Softball: This summer the ISSA staff will be busy organizing several of the premeir events in the sport of senior softball.  In June in addition to the Canada Cup, the ISSA will be conducting the 6th Smoky Mountain Senior Classic (Maryville/Knoxville, TN) and the 16th WBSC Senior World Cup (Roanoke Valley, VA).  Both events have become very popular with the senior players and have waiting lists to enter.  Each will have approximately 100 teams competing in the various age and skill level divisions at multiple park sites.  Then in August the senior teams will be competing in the 23rd ISSA World Championships (Richmond, VA) and the Pic-O-Dixie Senior Classic (Chattanooga, TN).  The Worlds moved to Richmond this year and will be using 20 fields at five parks throughout the region.  The Pic-O-Dixie is new this year with over 60 teams already entered.  The new seven-field Summit of Softball Complex will serve as the tournament headquarters.  The ISSA partners with host communities to bring high quality tournaments to the visiting teams and the dividends are paying off.  It is projected that two-thirds of the 27 ISSA turnaments this year will fill up and have to close early for entries.
