Greenville Tournaments Herald Robust Lacrosse Season

Greenville, NC located in the heart of the Eastern North Carolina region has a growing lacrosse scene. East Carolina University’s Club Men’s Lacrosse team hosts the annual Division 1 Southeastern Lacrosse Conference Regional Tournament, which brings approximately 1500 athletes to the community. The ECU Club Women’s team also hosts the annual North Carolina Women’s Club Lacrosse Regional Tournament bringing in over 100 athletes from across the state. East Carolina University will also be adding a Division 1 Women’s Lacrosse Program in 2017.

The Eastern North Carolina community also embraces the sport of lacrosse, with the East Carolina Youth Lacrosse League (ECYLL), comprised of youth teams ages 7-19 from Pitt, Onslow, and Carteret Counties, and the Eastern NC cities of New Bern, Havelock, and Topsail Beach, hosting the Southeastern regional tournament which brings over 5000 people to Greenville.

These three tournaments are all held at the attractive and accessible ECU North Recreational Complex (NRC), with an additional 8 fields available at ECU’s Blount Sports Complex. The NRC was built in 2010, and offers eight extremely well maintained multi-purpose, real grass fields and large practice field, along with a field house offering equipment storage and covered seating areas, restrooms, and adjacent parking. The NRC site also includes 6 acres of water for fishing and kayaking, beaches for sunbathing, sand volleyball, and grilling, an area offering fitness equipment and corn hole, a full disc-golf course, and a .5 mile trail around the two lakes that connects to six additional walking/jogging trials and one 5K running trail. The NRC’s new Odyssey High Challenge Course offers an opportunity for team building and personal challenges with a 120 feet long course featuring 8 distinct high elements approximately 40 feet tall, with two 300 foot zip lines.
