Independence, Missouri will again host the Ringside World Championship amateur boxing tournament. The Lenexa-based retailer of boxing and MMA equipment, Combat Brands, will hold its 14th Annual Ringside World Championships Tournament at Independence Events Center, July 30 through August 2.

The amateur boxing tournament will bring more than 4,000 boxers, attendees, exhibitors, and industry professionals to the Kansas City region. This competition typically draws athletes from around the globe and provides the largest competitive opportunity for amateur boxers in the world. Held over four days, Ringside World Championships consist of six rings, seven sessions, 1,500 athlete entries and over 1,000 bouts.

World-champion boxer Robert Guerrero, AKA ‘The Ghost,” will be on hand representing his inspirational favorite charity, Be The Match.  A resident of Gilroy, California, Guerrero is an ‘Ambassador of Hope’ for Be The Match, after his an anonymous bone marrow donor saved his wife’s life. The grateful boxer is sending the message to join the Be The Match Registry, to help save the lives of patients with leukemia, lymphoma and other life-threatening diseases. www.robertguerrero.com

Competition will consist of two daily sessions, at 11 AM and at 6 PM, Wednesday through Friday. Championship bouts begin at 11 AM on Saturday. Every session will have six boxing rings.  Information is available here

Tickets will be available, cash only, at the Silverstein Eye Centers Box Office at the Independence Events Center, at 10:30 AM or thirty minutes prior to doors opening Wednesday through Saturday, during the competition. General Admission is $5.00 per session Wednesday – Friday, $10 for Saturday, or $25.00 for an all-tournament pass; children under 10 are admitted free. Advertised prices may be subject to additional fees.
