Hill Climb Cycling Events Return to Colorado Springs in August

Two premier Colorado cycling events that finish at the 14,115-foot summit of Pikes Peak will return to Colorado Springs in 2017 with the support of the Colorado Springs Sports Corporation.

The USA Cycling Hill Climb National Championships and The Broadmoor Pikes Peak Cycling Hill Climb will take place on Saturday, August 12.

The inaugural USA Cycling Hill Climb National Championships and the accompanying Broadmoor Pikes Peak Cycling Hill Climb on August 13, 2016, attracted 346 competitors (213 for the USA Cycling event) who challenged the demanding course to the top of America's Mountain.

The USA Cycling Hill Climb National Championships will attract many top cyclists from across the nation and will also include opportunities for disabled riders in its competitive field. U.S. Paralympics has also approved events for Para-cyclists who want to compete in the unique event. 

Cycling racing to the summit of Pikes Peak was renewed in 2010, and this year marks the 8th consecutive year for The Broadmoor Pikes Peak Cycling Hill Climb, an annual event of The Sports Corp.The race is fully supported throughout the event, with rest areas, support vehicles, medical support and radio communications along the entire route.

The USA Cycling Hill Climb National Championships will be held again in conjunction with The Broadmoor Pikes Peak Cycling Hill Climb gran fondo fun ride on the same morning, August 12.The gran fondo features a non-competitive fun ride that give cyclists of all abilities a truly unique experience on the mountain course. Competitors in the gran fondo will ride in a fully supported event as they make their way to the summit of Pikes Peak.

Early registration discounts are still available for each event. Deadline for earlier registration is April 30. Early registration cost is $50 for the gran fondo and $65 adult/$35 junior for the USAC Nationals. 

All participants that register by July 7 will receive a collectible t-shirt with their registrations. Custom jersey orders will only be accepted through July 7 as well.

USAC Hill Climb National Championships and gran fondo participants will all be chip timed.

The Broadmoor Pikes Peak Cycling Hill Climb waves will begin at 6:30 am. Riders do not need to be USA Cycling Members to participate. Top three fastest riders will receive medals (men's, womens', junior men, junior women).

The USA Cycling Hill Climb National Championships waves will begin at 6:40 am. Racers must be U.S. citizens and Annual USAC Members to compete. The Pro/Open 19+ division is open to any competitor that is 19 years old or older. Cash prizes for the top 5 finishers. USAC Hill Climb National Championships medals for the top 5 finishers in each age division. Age divisions are in 10 year increments starting at 30 years old.
