The national tennis tournament will feature singles, doubles and mixed doubles events for players 40 and over (competitors must reach or exceed the age of 40 at any time in this calendar year to be eligible.)  Tournament participants will include former touring professionals and the strongest players in the nation for this age group.

Defending men’s singles champion Jeff Greenwald of San Anselmo, Calif., returns to defend his singles title. The 51-year-old Greenwald, a former touring tennis professional, also won the tournament singles title in 2009.

Other notable entries in the men’s field include former three-time tournament champion Tony Bujan of Tustin, Calif., and former touring tennis professional Jeff Tarango of Manhattan Beach, Calif., who captured the tournament singles title in 2010.

The women’s field is highlighted by the entry of defending singles champion Hiromi Sasano of La Mesa, Calif., and former two-time singles champion Dina McBride of Valencia, Calif.

“We are very excited to host the USTA National 40 Hard Court Championships and are looking forward to a great week of high-level tournament tennis,” said Tournament Director Bill Kellogg.  “In addition to a strong contingent of local competitors, there are players coming from all across the country to play this tournament.  This year’s player field is extremely competitive.”

The final list of seeded players and draws for each division will be posted on the tournament website on Tuesday, November 21. The full list of tournament competitors can be viewed at:
