Mar 16, 2017

The Mobile Sports Authority and the Mobile Convention Center will be hosting the 2017 USA Gymnastics Alabama State Optional Meet from March 17 through March 19, 2017 in downtown Mobile. Along with Planet Gymnastics, a Mobile-grown gymnastics studio producing top-level athletes, the three-day event expects to host over 600 athletes ranging in age from 5-18.

The Alabama athletes will represent 50+ different communities across the state. This meet will serve as a regional qualifier that will give the top six athletes in each division the chance to represent 'Team Alabama' in the regional tournaments in April.

The 2017 USA Gymnastics Alabama State Optional Meet will begin at noon on Friday March 17th and conclude Sunday mid-afternoon. Among the many different divisions, Championship Level 10 is the highest Junior Olympic level. These elite athletes for the Level 10 division will take to the floor on Saturday. The gymnasts will be joined in town by their coaches, families, friends and other supporters. The competing athletes will be challenged with each of the four apparatus - beam, bars, floor and vault -  and the public is welcome to come check out the action! Admission is $10 per day for adults, $5 per day for ages 6-12, and under 5 are free. Please visit www.usagym.org for more information on the weekends' meet times and schedule as it is subject to change.
