Runners to Mark Annual Tradition Tomorrow at Alabama Beaches

Nearly 400 runners are expected to compete in the 10th Annual Sweetheart Run set for tomorrow (February 12, 2011) in Gulf Shores. The race - which is a Gulf Shores & Orange Beach Sports Commission (GSOBSC) event - features 5k and 10k circuits that are USATF certified in addition to a 1 mile fun run. The start/finish line is set at The Hangout.

Race day registration is still available from 8:30 to 9:30 at The Hangout. Registration is $30 per person.

This event features numerous awards for the 5K and 10K including male and female overall, masters, grand masters, senior grant masters and wheelchair. Age group award will be handed out to a variety of categories for both the 5k and 10k while the 5k race also has walker awards. All finishers of the 1 mile fun run will receive a special award.

After the competition ends, The Hangout will host a post race party starting at 10 a.m. and will feature great food, beverages, live entertainment and door prizes.

Sports Commission Sponsors represented include The Hangout and 95 KSJ.
