Play begins today for 144 teams of 7 -14 year olds who are competing in the USSSA Baseball World Series, which is the first in a series of USSSA events that Alabama’s Beaches will host this summer.

The strong relationship between the sports commission and USSSA continues to grow after a record-setting year in 2010. The sports commission generated over $12.8 million last year in tourism impact with a large portion of that coming from USSSA events. Two events in particular can be given credit; USSSA Global World Series I and II were responsible for over $5.5 million in tourism impact.
