Monroeville, PA - Sean Logan, former three-term Pennsylvania State Senator for the 45th Senatorial District (representing portions of Allegheny and Westmoreland Counties) and, most recently, Vice President of Community Relations for UPMC, has been named Executive Director/CEO of Visit Monroeville by that organization’s Board of Directors.

Visit Monroeville’s primary mission is to increase convention, trade show, and travel activities for the local area. In addition, it promotes Monroeville businesses and services, especially the municipality’s numerous hotels, restaurants, shops, and athletic facilities.

Logan’s extensive leadership roles in the State Senate, including Secretary of the Senate Democratic Caucus, will ideally help him guide Visit Monroeville in its quest to attract more and larger-scale trade shows to the new 100,000-square-foot Monroeville Convention Center. He’ll be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the agency.

“Sean Logan is the perfect choice for this position. His long-time dedication to improving the prominence of the Monroeville area – in all he’s done in his previous political and career undertakings – will translate nicely to our basic goal of substantially increasing major bookings of our Convention Center which, of course, will lead to true growth of overall commerce for Monroeville,” says Christian Fyke, Visit Monroeville Board Treasurer and incoming Board Chairman for the Monroeville Area Chamber of Commerce.

Adds Lance Rihn, General Manager of the DoubleTree by Hilton Monroeville Convention Center: “Sean was the driving force to help make our center a reality. Thus, more than anyone, he understands exactly what Visit Monroeville must do to ensure that our new facility thrives.”

In his new role, Logan, one-time Mayor of Monroeville, will also serve as the Administrative Officer for Visit Monroeville’s Board of Directors.

“I’m absolutely thrilled to be given this amazing opportunity to once again serve the Monroeville community in such a significant capacity. I anxiously look forward to working closely with the Visit Monroeville staff and its valued partners to make our region an even better place to live and work,” states Logan.

Logan earned a BA degree in Political Science from the University of Pittsburgh. He and his wife, Shannon, have two children, Ella and Regan.
